Netanyahu nominates Trump for Nobel Peace Prize
Presenting the US president with a letter he wrote to the Nobel Peace Prize committee, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Monday that he has nominated Donald Trump for the award.
Netanyahu remarked, "He is constructing peace as we speak, in one country, in one region after the other," during a White House luncheon with Trump.
Over the years, Trump has gotten numerous nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize from devoted lawmakers and followers, and he has publicly expressed his annoyance at not being awarded the coveted honor.
The Republican has expressed dissatisfaction with the Norwegian Nobel Committee's failure to recognize him for his mediation work in the disputes between Serbia and Kosovo and India and Pakistan.
In addition, he has claimed responsibility for mediating the Abraham Accords, a set of accords intended to restore normalcy between Israel and a number of Arab countries, and "preserving peace" between Egypt and Ethiopia.
Although both hostilities are still going on more than five months after Trump took office, he ran on a platform of being a "peacemaker" who would utilize his negotiating abilities to swiftly stop the conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine.
