The woman who accused singer Mainul Ahsan Noble of rape is now his wife. Under the watchful eye of the prison administration, the wedding ceremony was held Thursday at Keraniganj Central Jail's front gate.
Four witnesses, two from each side, and Singer Noble, the plaintiff woman, were there at the time. Prothom Alo received confirmation of the report from Jahangir Kabir, the deputy inspector general of prisons (DIG Prisons) for the Dhaka division.
The court had previously allowed Noble, who had been arrested in connection with a rape case, to wed the plaintiff. Nazmin Akter, a magistrate at the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court, made the ruling on Wednesday in response to Noble's appeal.
Prothom Alo received confirmation of this from Ila Moni, a sub-inspector (SI) in the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) crime and information section.
Prothom Alo was informed by Noble's attorney, Jasim Uddin, and sub-inspector Ila Moni that the rape case's plaintiff was in court. Noble, the accused singer as well, submitted a written request for the court's approval of their marriage. The court then gave the jail administration instructions to begin the required preparations for the marriage, pending both the plaintiff's and defendant's approval.
Sadek Ullah Bhuiyan, Khalilur Rahman, Sabiha Tarin, and Nazma Hossain are close friends who saw Noble and the plaintiff woman's wedding at the jail gate.
Since his arrest in the rape case on May 20, singer Noble has been incarcerated. In court that day, his attorney asserted that Noble had not raped the woman who had made the complaint and that she was, in fact, his wife.
"Singer Noble could not produce any formal papers to the police to confirm that he had married the woman," Prothom Alo was informed by the case's investigating officer, Inspector (Investigation) Md Murad Hossain of Demra Police Station. Although there was no legal marriage document, the preliminary inquiry indicated that Noble and that woman might have had a verbal marriage ceremony at a home in Jatrabari.
The court was notified in writing by Demra police that the woman had initially connected with Nobel on Facebook seven years prior (in 2018). She was a third-year undergraduate student at a Dhaka college at the time, and she was renting an apartment in the Mohammadpur neighborhood. They used to communicate frequently.
On November 12 of last year, Noble invited her to his studio in Demra. Around 8:00 p.m., as she attempted to leave, Nobel allegedly grabbed her phone and destroyed it. After that, he raped her and recorded the incident. The police also claimed that she was threatened and held captive in the apartment for seven months.
Noble, who is originally from Gopalganj, became well-known after appearing on the television reality show "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa" in Kolkata. His inflammatory remarks throughout the program drew condemnation. He later became embroiled in problems because of his connections with other women. He had the ability to become well-known in the playback music industry, but his career was clouded by these scandals.
