Kuldeep considers returning to the Tests with guidance from a former England player

With guidance from an odd ally in former England batsman Kevin Pietersen, India spinner Kuldeep Yadav is hoping to rejoin the Test team for the second match against England at Edgbaston.

Kuldeep last appeared in Test matches during India's home series against New Zealand in October 2024, and he has not played a red-ball match outside of Asia in over six years.

However, Jasprit Bumrah's ongoing back issue would open the door for Kuldeep.

In an interview with The Indian Express, Kuldeep claimed that during their time together with the Delhi Capitals in the IPL, he had lengthy conversations with Pietersen.

"He provided me with a lot of advice regarding field placements, pitches, hitters, and the necessary mindset for the England tour," Kuldeep remarked.

Pietersen's main recommendation? When bowling in England, adopt an attacking mentality.

He informed me that spinners frequently adopt a defensive stance while visiting England, believing that fast bowlers will claim every wicket. However, he advised me to consider how to get rid of batters, even if I only get 15–20 overs, Kuldeep continued.

Kuldeep has a strong record in Test cricket, taking 56 wickets at an average of 22.16 in 13 games.
