In the second Bangladesh Test, Sri Lanka's bowlers shine.

On a rainy first day of the second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground in Colombo, Sri Lanka's bowlers held Bangladesh to 220 for eight at stumps.

Sonal Dinusha, who was making his debut, was the star of the show on a track that provided little for the bowlers.

After Angelo Mathews retired, the 24-year-old left-arm spinner was promoted to the major leagues and made an outstanding debut, returning figures of two for 22.

Litton Das was Dinush's maiden wicket, breaking a productive fifth-wicket stand with Mushfiqur Rahim.

Then, after Mushfiqur had struck a century in the first Test, he took the valuable wicket.

Pacer Vishwa Fernando gave Dinush helpful assistance.

After a successful County tenure with Warwickshire, the left-arm seamer returned to the national team and dismissed Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, who had amassed two hundreds in the opening Test.

Later in the innings, Mehidy Hasan Miraz was dismissed by Vishwa after he returned with a crisp delivery that struck the edge.

When their batters struggled, Bangladesh's choice to bat first backfired.

The top order did not deliver, with the exception of patient 46 for Shadman Islam.

Islam stated, "It is a slow kind of surface." "Playing shots was not easy."

Although Sri Lanka's fielding was inconsistent at times, their bowlers more than made up for it, making sure the visitors never won the match.

Dinusha and Vishwa were well-supported by Asitha Fernando, who was brought in following Milan Rathnayake's injury.

Thilina Kandamby, Sri Lanka's batting coach, gave the team high marks for their performance.

He said, "Very fine effort by the quicks," "They generated openings and bowled to smart strategies."

Bangladesh made two changes to their lineup: Ebadot Hossain replaced the injured Hasan Mahmud, while Mehidy Hasan, who had recovered from a fever, replaced Jaker Ali.
