In the Abu Sayed murder case, the International Crimes Tribunal-2 on Monday issued arrest warrants for 26 individuals, including Hasibur Rashid, the former vice chancellor of Begum Rokeya University.

After considering the accusations against 30 defendants, the three-member tribunal, led by its chairman, Justice Md. Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, issued the order.

The accusations were read out by Advocate Md. Tajul Islam, the Chief Prosecutor.

According to court sources, Moniruzzaman, a former commissioner of the Rangpur Metropolitan Police, is also one of the people facing the arrest warrant.

Four defendants are presently incarcerated in connection with the case: police constable Sujan Chandra Roy, former assistant sub-inspector of police Amir Hossain, former proctor of Begum Rokeya University Shariful Islam, and Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Imran Chowdhury.

The weapon used in the shocking murder and the investigating agency's findings were turned in to the prosecution earlier on June 24.

The article claims that 30 individuals participated in Abu Sayed's murder during the 2024 Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

On July 16 of last year, Abu Sayed was shot and killed in front of Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur's Park Mor.
