As a "crash test dummy" for the #MeToo movement, Johnny Depp has spoken candidly about the effects of his well-publicized legal struggle with his ex-wife Amber Heard.

According to a media site, the 62-year-old actor, who prevailed in a 2022 defamation case against Heard, recently talked about the trial's effects on his career and personal life, particularly the people he thought abandoned him during one of the most trying times in his life.

Heard's 2018 op-ed for The Washington Post, in which she raised awareness of domestic abuse without specifically naming Depp, was the catalyst for Depp's legal dispute with him.

After a protracted trial in Virginia, the media source reports that Depp was given USD 10 million in damages and Heard earned USD 2 million for one of her counterclaims.

Depp began to doubt the loyalty of people around him as a result of the trial's public scrutiny and the media's intensive focus on the accusations.

According to the media source, Depp acknowledged in the interview that certain members of his inner circle had "done him dirty," especially those who had previously praised his accomplishments but said nothing when the accusations against him were made.

"As strange as I am, there are some things you can trust," he clarified. According to the media outlet, "And my allegiance is the last thing somebody could dispute."

During the trial, Depp explicitly criticized an anonymous agent with whom he had collaborated for thirty years for disparaging him in court.

He remarked, "That is death by confetti," alluding to the "false" people who "celebrate you" in front of you while secretly criticizing you.

"What do they want if they deceive you and yet collect money? According to the media outlet, he said, "Dough."

Depp also talked about the #MeToo movement, which became well-known in 2017 after Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein was accused of several sexual assaults and harassments.

Depp spoke on his personal experience, saying, "I was before MeToo. I served as MeToo's crash test dummy.

He clarified that because the movement was still in its infancy at the time of his legal battle, industry professionals were reluctant to defend him for fear of negative reaction.

Depp claimed to have "sponged it all in" during the trying time and observed that the circumstances fostered a culture where people were "playing it safe" to avoid criticism or labeling.

He continued mockingly, "Better go woke!" suggesting that many in Hollywood were more focused with upholding their reputation than supporting him.

Depp appeared to take comfort in the fact that his case marked a turning point, despite the years of emotional and legal upheaval.

He was cited by the media site as saying, "The jury handed me my life back," following the verdict. Depp saw the lawsuit as an issue of personal honesty in addition to legal justice.

He said that he now feels "at peace" after having finally achieved his goal of telling the truth, saying that it was something he owed to his kids and to everyone who has stood by him no matter what.

Depp also talked about his alleged "comeback" in Hollywood and the changes in his career since the trial throughout the conversation.

Despite rumors in the media that his career had been put on halt,

Depp quickly asserted, "Really? I did not leave the house."

He mentioned his most recent endeavors, including his Dior ads and the movies Minamata and Jeanne du Barry.

Depp also indicated that he has stayed involved in the business by teasing an intriguing upcoming project called "Day Drinker." Depp clarified, though, that he does not consider his reappearance to be a "comeback."

He stated, "If I genuinely had the choice to split, I would never come back," suggesting that his passion for acting and his own motivation are what keep him working in the field in spite of the difficulties he has encountered.
