Ahead of Sunday's Club World Cup matchup against Inter Miami, Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique stated that facing former player Lionel Messi will be a "emotional" reunion for both him and the French team, according to BSS.

Luis Enrique trained Messi and a number of other current Inter Miami players at Barcelona before Messi joined PSG in 2021.

The attacker left in 2023, the same summer the Spaniard joined PSG. Despite winning two Ligue 1 titles, the forward was unable to provide the French team with the Champions League victory they so desperately wanted.

Before the game in Atlanta, he added, "It is lovely to see these players, who are more than just footballers for me, it will be amazing before and after the game."
