Alif wins the Asia Cup Archery Gold Medal.

Abdur Rahman Alif of Bangladesh defeated Japanese archer Miyata Gakuto 6-4 in the gold-deciding match on Friday in Singapore to win the gold medal in the men's recurve solo event of the Asia Cup Stage-2.

After winning the first two sets by 28-27 and 29-28, Alif got off to a lucky start by grabbing a 4-0 lead. However, the Japanese archer put up a fierce comeback to even the set points at 4-4 by winning the third and fourth sets by 28-27 and 27-26, respectively.

Alif maintained his composure to win 29-26 in the fifth and final set, earning the gold and his first international singles title.

Alif stated that it is indeed a wonderful feeling to win one's first international gold on foreign land.

"It is a terrific sensation to me because this is the first time I have able to hear the national anthem in the foreign soil after winning the first gold in international competition," Alif said in a video message following his gold medal triumph.

questioned about his next target. The archer stated that his sole goal is now to win an Olympic medal, and in order to achieve this goal, he is preparing appropriately under the instructor.

Alif also urged the archery federation to host further team contests.

"More competitions are needed to boost team performance because if the federation organises more competition for the team, the team's world ranking would be improved and the group's chances of qualifying for the Olympics would be brightened," he stated.
