According to Prof. Yunus, Bangladesh would not have changed course if the foreigners had not supported the overthrown government, which left the state exchequer and banks empty.

He stated that while the interim administration will undoubtedly carry out its duties, Bangladeshi expats' involvement in nation-building should be increased.

They were asked to take action to boost business in Bangladesh by the Chief Adviser.

"You must assume responsibility for the state's repair as a citizen," he stated.

According to Prof. Yunus, the foreigners frequently travel to Bangladesh since they have friends, family, and enterprises there.

"In general, we must cooperate... you ought to exert more influence over the Japanese government," he stated.

Later, three notes were exchanged on the occasion: the loan for the Joydebpur-Ishwardi dual-gauge double-lane railway project (641 million USD), the grant for the human development scholarship (4.2 million USD), and the Development Policy Loan for Economic Reform and Strengthening Climate Change Resilience (418 million USD).

On behalf of their respective countries, Japanese Ambassador Shinichi Saida and Bangladesh Ambassador Md. Daud Ali signed the accords.

Prof. Yunus, the chief adviser, was present when the notes were signed.

He later attended a luncheon that the ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan had organized in his honor.
